The first mini album & album combined.
This was the initial format of the two releases in the US,
but they have since been released on two separate discs (see above).
On Surfer Rosa, before "Vamos", Black Francis makes a little speech ("You fuckin' die!..."). On the US version of the CD, it is rendered in a separate track (#11), which is not listed on the cover. This leads to a mismatch between the tracklisting and the actual track numbers for the following songs. On the European releases, the speech is in the same track as "Vamos". In the Japanese release, it is a separate track, but listed as "Speech" on the cover.

"Death To The Pixies" was the text written on the posters for the promotion of the first Pixies concerts in Boston, before they had signed to 4AD. This poster showed Black Francis naked, in a position in which his thumb could be mistaken with his penis! This poster design has been reused for DttP promo T-shirts.

Same content as the 2 CDs edition, plus:
This outer slip case box set features all tracks from both
Death to the Pixies CDs, plus two bonus tracks (not listed on the
records' labels) on four 10" vinyls, along with a very nicely designed
booklet (limited edition of 9,000 copies).
Both demos are versions played by Black Francis alone.
Same tracklisting as compilation CD, but also includes:
CD | 1997 | UK: 4AD (DADD 7011 CDGT) |
4AD pressed some copies of the compilation CD with these two
bonus songs added in the last track of the CD ("Monkey Gone To
Heaven"), then dispatched these copies in the UK Limited Edition and
regular cases (some sources speak of 500 copies for each). The only
possibility to know if a UK DttP copy has the bonus songs or not, is to
check the CD itself: it has the matrix number DAD 7011 CDGT written on
it (in the inner circle), and it is about 10 minutes longer than the
normal copy.
Both demos are versions played by Black Francis alone.

The songs on this album were recorded in March 1987 and were included on what has come to be known
by diehard Pixies fans as "The Purple Tape". From this collection of seventeen songs, eight were chosen to comprise
the Pixies' first album, Come On Pilgrim. These are the nine remaining songs and feature the original recording of "Here Comes Your Man"
as well as a previously unrealeased track, "Rock A My Soul".
Produced by Gary Smith. Engineered with Paul Kolderie. Mastered by Steve Hoffman. Recorded at Fort Apache, Roxbury, MA in March 1987.
Design by Andrew Swainson at Cactus. Original cassette design by Gary Smith.
